Spring Is Here!
There’s just something about Spring. The warmer weather, the brighter sunshine and longer days, just helps to give you a more positive outlook on life and hopefully, this will spill over to your financial situation.
So, I want to start this newsletter by focusing on those who are still working and who feel their super balance is so low, that there is no point of having any super at all. Nothing could be further from the truth. Even a modest amount in super will make a big difference in retirement.
In my article, Making Your Super Count, I go through some simple steps that you can take today, which will boost your super balance and with that, will improve your financial situation in retirement. If you don’t know where to start or how to implement these simple steps yourself, just contact me.
For those already in retirement or close to retirement, I thought given its Spring and life just feels more positive, that I would again outline some simple steps as to how you can get more out of life in retirement.
These should be the best years of your life, where you have plenty of time on your hands to do the things you are really passionate about. If you’re not there yet, this article might prompt you to make some changes to your life and help to improve your overall lifestyle.
On another positive note, shareholders in Australia’s leading listed companies banked some $21.7 billion in dividend payments during the last week in September, which I think is worth thinking on for a moment.
I have long been an advocate of investing directly in quality companies that pay high yielding dividends and there is no better time to reflect on this than following a week when literally billions of dollars have flooded the bank accounts of Australia’s shareholders.
Finally, nobody really wants to think about what happens after they pass on, but it is vital that you do keep your will up to date, so that when the time comes, your estate can be handled quickly and broadly in line with your wishes. Spring is a good time to do this too.
As most clients who have been with me for several years know, I do love a day at the races. So just a quick note to remind everyone that the first week of November is a busy time for me and I usually try to take the week off.
While I am also keeping an eye on the business no matter where I am, it might be helpful to keep in mind that if you would like to chat to me about your portfolios, please try to do so during October or plan to leave it to the second half of November.
